This week, a tragic occurrence occurred at Walt Disney World when a man died after falling at the Contemporary Resort, a well-liked spot close to the cherished Magic Kingdom theme park.
The victim, 39-year-old Jeffery Vanden Boom from Greendale, Wisconsin, was sadly killed by blunt force trauma, according to the Orange County Medical Examiner.
On July 26, 2023, at 5:33 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call about a guy who was not breathing on the Contemporary Resort’s property. Vanden Boom wasn’t saved right away, and the authorities declared him dead there.
The incident, in the opinion of the authorities, was a regrettable accident. The 5th-floor sky bridge that connects Bay Lake Tower to Disney’s Contemporary Resort was briefly closed to visitors to aid in the investigation as it got going. Walt Disney World hasn’t, however, yet issued a formal statement or rebuttal to the unfortunate event.
Social media users who claimed to be hotel guests posted information that highlighted their shock and anguish upon seeing the incident’s aftermath. Witnesses reported seeing a police tent and taped-off area, and visitors were instructions not to use their balconies while the inquiry was underway.
A Reddit user described the traumatic event, saying, “I’m pretty sure someone just died at our hotel… we got a call at 7:30 someone had a medical emergency and not to go on the balconies and then they had people redirecting us.” “And then we went outside, and there’s a tent set up right under a balcony, and it’s all taped up.”
This is not the first sad tragedy to take place inside Walt Disney World’s boundaries. A Florida veteran, Joseph A. Masters, 83, tragically passed away last year after passing out on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in the Magic Kingdom.
Disney employees and security provided immediate medical care, but regrettably, he was not able to be rescued. Thoughts and prayers are with Jeffery Vanden Boom’s family and loved ones during this extremely trying time as the Walt Disney World community mourns his passing.
