The Austin Police Department discovered incendiary devices at a Tesla dealership in North Austin early Monday morning, according to a report from Fox 7. Officers were called to the scene around 8:04 a.m. after receiving reports of suspicious items on the property.
Upon arrival, the department’s bomb squad was brought in to assess the threat. Investigators confirmed the devices were designed to start fires, escalating concerns about growing hostility toward Tesla and its high-profile owner, Elon Musk.
This incident comes on the heels of other troubling attacks targeting the electric carmaker. Just last week, five Teslas were set ablaze at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department described that event as “a targeted attack against a Tesla facility.”
In response, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi didn’t mince words, calling the attacks “nothing short of domestic terrorism.” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also spoke out, blaming Democrat-aligned extremists for what she called “heinous violence.”
Both Musk and President Donald Trump have suggested that the attacks may be part of a broader, organized campaign against the company. However, law enforcement officials and domestic extremism experts stated last week that there’s currently no conclusive evidence showing the attacks were coordinated.
Even so, the timing and pattern of these incidents have raised serious questions—and tensions—as Tesla continues to be at the center of both innovation and political controversy.
