Priscilla Presley is opening up about one of the most devastating days of her life—the death of her only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
In a new interview with People published Sept. 17, the 80-year-old reflected on the painful moment in 2023 when Lisa Marie passed away at 54.
“It was the second saddest day of my life, other than losing Elvis,” Priscilla admitted. “It took a long time to come to terms with the fact that Lisa was gone.”
Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital after her ex-husband, Danny Keough, found her unresponsive at home. Doctors later revealed she had suffered a small bowel obstruction, a complication linked to an earlier bariatric surgery.
Priscilla recalled waiting by her daughter’s side for hours. “Lisa really wasn’t breathing, so she was on the ventilator,” she shared. “For hours we were there waiting, hoping and praying until the doctor came in and said, ‘Priscilla, I’m so sorry, she’s gone.’”
The loss was devastating for the entire family, including Lisa’s children—actress Riley Keough and 16-year-old twins Harper and Finley, whom she shared with her ex-husband Michael Lockwood.
“We just couldn’t believe it—didn’t want to believe it,” Priscilla said. “It was hard on all of us, it still is.”
Her comments come just weeks after Priscilla spoke out against explosive claims made in a lawsuit by her former business partners, who alleged she removed Lisa Marie from life support to gain control of Elvis’s estate. She slammed the accusations as “one of the most shameful, ridiculous, salacious, and meritless lawsuits I have seen in my practice.”
Calling the claims an attempt to tarnish her name, Priscilla added, “It’s nothing more than a sad and vicious attempt to falsely tarnish the reputation of an eighty-year-old woman.”

I understand and feel her grief. Mu youngest son passed at 24 while I was serving in Kuwait.
