A moment that should’ve been about connection turned into something terrifying at Billie Eilish’s concert Thursday night in Miami. While greeting fans near the stage barricade, the “Bad Guy” singer was nearly pulled to the ground when one audience member grabbed her arm with force.

Videos from the show, part of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, show Billie smiling and reaching out to fans just before the incident. Suddenly, a fan yanks her arm, twisting her body and sending her spiraling toward the metal barrier. Security quickly intervened, pulling the assailant away and helping her back to her feet.

Billie, visibly shaken, straightened her hair and strode off, visibly upset by what had just transpired. The crowd and social media alike expressed outrage, calling the assault dangerous, unacceptable, and a sad reminder of how performers can become targets. One fan wrote, “People forget these are real people, not zoo exhibits.”

Miami police confirmed the fan was ejected from the venue. No criminal charges have been announced yet.

This isn’t the first time fans have crossed a line during live shows. Artists like Bebe Rexha, Harry Styles, and Kelsea Ballerini have all had troubling encounters with overly aggressive concertgoers.

Billie is scheduled to perform at the same venue again this weekend, though it’s unclear whether she’ll continue walking among fans like she did Thursday night.
