A rising motocross star has tragically died in a training accident.
17-year-old Spanish rider Enzo Badenas was fatally injured during a private training session on Sunday, December 7, at the Red Sand Park circuit in Castellon, eastern Spain, according to Spanish outlets La Razón and Las Provincias.
Badenas, who joined the Specialized Center for Motor Sports Technification (CETDM) in 2023 after winning the Spanish 85cc Motocross Championship, was part of the Spanish national motocross team. In his short but remarkable career, he competed in both national and international events, including the European Championship, and achieved multiple podium finishes.
The CETDM confirmed the teen’s death on Instagram, saying he “suffered a serious accident” during training. The organization added, “The Ricardo Tormo Circuit Technification Center is shocked by this news and all the staff of the CETDM and the Circuit wish to give condolences, love and a lot of strength to all the family members, colleagues, friends and close ones of Enzo in these difficult moments.”
Just an hour before the accident, Badenas had shared footage on his Instagram Stories doing what he loved most: riding motorcycles.
His family shared details of his funeral on Instagram on Monday, December 8. “On behalf of Enzo’s entire family, we would like to inform you that the wake will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at 6:00 p.m. at the Monduver Funeral Home in Gandía,” they wrote. “We hope to see you all there. Enzo would have loved to see you. We are feeling all your love and support, and I’m sure Enzo feels it too.”
