Megan Thee Stallion’s big Broadway moment took a scary turn after the rapper was suddenly rushed to the hospital mid-performance.
The 31-year-old star reportedly became “very ill” during Tuesday night’s showing of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, forcing the production to abruptly stop as the situation unfolded.
“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” her spokesperson said in a statement. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”
Fans inside the theater knew something was wrong almost immediately.
Entertainment correspondent Loren LoRosa, who was in the audience, said Megan appeared in a few opening scenes before the show suddenly halted.
“They just stopped Moulin Rouge mid show, apologized to the audience and said ‘stay inside and seated,’” she wrote. The performance later resumed with an understudy stepping in to replace Megan for the rest of the night.
Behind the scenes, concern quickly spread.
Megan’s hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, posted on X, “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital.”
The frightening incident comes just days after Megan made her highly anticipated Broadway debut. She began her limited eight-week run as Zidler on March 24 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City, with performances scheduled through May 17.
Before opening night, Megan shared how excited she was to take on the new challenge.
“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,” she said at the time. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively, and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace.”
She also acknowledged the demands of the stage, adding, “Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”
