What should have been one of the happiest moments of her life quickly turned into a nightmare for a UK bride after a shocking attack just moments before her wedding.
Gemma Monk, a 35-year-old mom of two, was walking with her father toward the ceremony in Maidstone, England, when someone called her name. Seconds later, black paint was thrown all over her — covering her face, chest, and white wedding dress.
The attacker? Her own sister-in-law.
Monk realized it was her brother’s wife, Antonia Eastwood, who had reportedly been banned from the wedding due to an ongoing family feud that had been building for over a year.
Photos from the scene show the bride completely covered in dark paint, standing in shock as her big day seemed to fall apart.
Eastwood quickly fled the scene, but the damage had already been done.
Or so it seemed.
Instead of letting the attack ruin everything, Monk refused to give up on her wedding day. She cleaned herself up, found a backup dress — and went through with the ceremony just two hours later.
“We had waited so long for that day. Nothing was going to stop me,” she said afterward.
The feud between the two reportedly started at Eastwood’s own wedding, where she accused Monk of trying to trip her — something Monk denies.
Despite knowing about Monk’s recent health scare, which included fears of cancer, Eastwood still carried out the attack — something the bride said made the situation even more painful.
In court, Monk described how the incident changed her forever.
“It turned the most special day of my life into a memory I will never forget,” she said.
Eastwood later pleaded guilty to criminal damage and was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for a year, along with 160 hours of community service.
The judge didn’t hold back, telling her she had turned what should have been a joyful celebration into a nightmare.
