NFL legend Lawrence Taylor is in the hospital — and new details about his condition are raising concern.

The 67-year-old New York Giants icon has been hospitalized for about a week with what was initially described as a stomach-related issue. But according to recent reporting from TMZ, Taylor is actually battling pancreatitis.

Despite the alarming diagnosis, there is some reassuring news.

Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said the condition does not appear to be life-threatening at this time. He remains under close medical observation, with no confirmed discharge date, but is reportedly showing signs of improvement.

In a statement, Eiglarsh shared that Taylor wanted to thank those who have reached out with support.

“Lawrence asks that I convey his sincere gratitude to everyone who has been thinking of him and keeping him in their prayers during this challenging time,” he said.

Taylor, widely considered one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history, spent his entire 13-season career with the Giants from 1981 to 1993. He helped lead the team to two Super Bowl wins, earned eight All-Pro selections, and was named league MVP in 1986 — a rare honor for a defensive player. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999, and his No. 56 jersey has been retired by the team.

Off the field, Taylor has also made headlines over the years for legal issues, including a 2011 case in New York and more recent charges in Florida tied to registry requirements.

For now, fans are focused on his health, hoping the Hall of Famer continues to recover from what has now been revealed as a serious — but reportedly manageable — medical condition.
