What should have been just another week in the orbit of Bravo fame has spiraled into a chilling real-life nightmare.

Dakota Sweeney, the cousin of Summer House star West Wilson, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shocking death of his own grandmother, 75-year-old Gayle R. Wilson.

According to a criminal complaint, the 28-year-old is accused of “knowingly causing the death” of Gayle by shooting her inside her home on April 22. Authorities also hit him with an additional charge of armed criminal action, painting a grim picture of a case that has stunned both family members and fans alike.

Law enforcement officials in Missouri say they were called to the residence after reports of a homicide. When officers arrived, they discovered Gayle dead inside the home. Also present were Sweeney and his grandfather — who would later provide a haunting account of what allegedly unfolded.

According to the probable cause statement, the grandfather told investigators that Sweeney had been sitting next to Gayle on the couch for roughly 30 minutes before, without warning, pulling the trigger and shooting her in the head. Even more disturbing, the incident may have been sparked by something as mundane as household chores. Investigators say the two had argued earlier in the evening over Sweeney not helping around the house.

Sweeney was taken into custody at the scene, where officers reportedly found a holster on him. Prosecutors have requested he be held without bond, and he has been ordered to submit fingerprints in connection with the felony charges. A bond hearing is scheduled for May 6.

The tragedy has cast a dark shadow over Summer House star West Wilson, 31, who was preparing to film the show’s season 10 reunion just one day after the killing. The timing has only amplified the shock, with fans now grappling with the stark contrast between reality TV drama and a devastating real-world crime.

Gayle, remembered in her obituary as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Roger, along with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service is set for May 2 — a somber farewell to a life cut short in a way no one saw coming.

As the case moves forward, questions continue to swirl about what led to such an unthinkable act — and how a family dispute could allegedly end in cold-blooded violence.
