A scary moment for a Hollywood veteran turned into a huge relief just hours later.

Ving Rhames, best known for his role in the Mission: Impossible franchise, reportedly collapsed while dining at a restaurant in Los Angeles—sparking a rush of emergency response and concern from those around him.

According to a witness, the 66-year-old actor was eating with family on Wednesday when he suddenly collapsed at the table. The situation quickly escalated, with Rhames appearing to drift in and out of consciousness as people nearby realized something was seriously wrong.

Paramedics were called and arrived shortly after. Officials with the Los Angeles City Fire Department confirmed a medical aid call came in around 1:40 p.m. for a man in his 60s, who was then ruahd to a nearby hospital for treatment.

At the time, sources close to Rhames said the incident may have been caused by overheating, and that he was being kept at the hospital for observation as a precaution.

Then came the update everyone was hoping for.

Shortly after the incident, Rhames was released from the hospital and allowed to return home. According to his representative, he was already feeling better—and even cracking jokes as he left.

The actor has long been a staple in Hollywood, most notably playing Luther Stickell across all eight Mission: Impossible films. He’s also known for standout roles in Pulp Fiction and the psychological thriller Jacob’s Ladder.
