Love Island star Ella Thomas had a terrifying end to her birthday celebrations after a freak accident left her covered in blood and rushed into emergency surgery.
The reality star revealed the shocking ordeal on Instagram, sharing graphic photos and videos from inside the hospital after a smashed glass bottle severely injured her foot during a night out in London.
“Didn’t think the birthday celebrations would end with a freak accident & me getting surgery on my foot,” Thomas wrote alongside photos showing her in a hospital gown, hooked up to IVs and being wheeled through the hospital.
One of the most alarming images showed the 26-year-old inside an ambulance while blood soaked through bandages wrapped around her foot.
Thomas later joked that she “missed the Met Gala for a night in the ward,” before sharing videos of herself singing and dancing in her hospital bed after finally receiving pain medication.
In a TikTok posted the same day, Thomas explained exactly how the frightening accident happened.
According to the reality star, she and her friends attended a birthday brunch event in London that immediately gave them “bad vibes.” Just minutes after arriving, someone allegedly smashed a glass bottle, sending shards flying directly onto her foot.
“This was not a little cut,” Thomas said. “It was a massive wound, and my blood was just gushing and gushing. Like, liters on the floor.”
The former reality TV contestant said the situation became even more upsetting when some people nearby allegedly laughed while she was bleeding heavily.
“The worst part is that there were girls literally laughing,” she claimed.
Thomas was eventually rushed to the emergency room, where doctors performed X-rays before deciding surgery was necessary.
“I was in so much shock and panic,” she explained, adding that she initially refused treatment until doctors gave her medication to calm her down.
