Bonnie Tyler is reportedly fighting for her life after suffering a terrifying cardiac arrest while doctors attempted to wake her from an induced coma.

The 74-year-old music icon — best known for the smash hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” — remains in intensive care at a hospital in the Algarve region of Portugal following a medical emergency that has left fans deeply concerned.

According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manhã, the Welsh singer went into cardiac arrest Friday and had to be resuscitated by doctors. She is also reportedly battling a serious infection and is being treated with high doses of antibiotics as medical teams closely monitor her condition.

Despite the frightening ordeal, one of Tyler’s longtime friends, Liberto Mealha, told the outlet that doctors are feeling optimistic about her recovery.

The health scare reportedly began after Tyler underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix. Her manager previously confirmed that the singer had been placed into an induced coma to help her body recover after the procedure.

Reports say Tyler first began feeling unwell during a performance in London, but doctors initially failed to detect any serious problems. She later traveled to Portugal’s Algarve region, where she has owned a home for decades, before suffering intense abdominal pain that forced her to seek emergency medical treatment.

She was rushed to a hospital in Faro on April 30, where doctors performed emergency surgery.

The shocking news comes just weeks before Tyler was expected to launch her “Jubilee Tour,” which was scheduled to begin May 22 in Malta. Fans quickly noticed that the opening tour date no longer appears on the singer’s official website.

The legendary performer had been preparing for a busy summer tour across Europe, with scheduled shows in Germany, Hungary, Austria, Turkey, Scotland, England and beyond.

Tyler has remained a beloved music icon for decades thanks to her unmistakable raspy voice and a string of massive hits that dominated the charts throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Her career exploded to another level in 1983 with the release of “Faster Than the Speed of Night,” the album that included “Total Eclipse of the Heart” — a song that has now surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

Even after all these years, Tyler admitted she still gets emotional hearing the track.

“Every time the eclipse comes, everyone all over the world plays ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart,’ and I never get tired of singing it,” she said during a 2024 interview on “Good Morning America.”

She later followed up the success with another iconic anthem, “Holding Out for a Hero,” featured in the hit 1984 movie “Footloose.”

Tyler has spent more than five decades performing professionally and previously insisted she had no plans to retire, even after slowing down in recent years.

“I know now that I will never retire,” she previously said in an interview.

Just last month, the singer told Hello! magazine that she was still enjoying life on the road.

“I’m still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band,” she said. “If you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything.”
