A contestant on Survivor Greece is recovering in the hospital after a horrifying boating accident reportedly left him with part of his leg amputated while filming in the Dominican Republic.

The shocking incident involved contestant Stavros Floros, who was competing on the hit reality series before tragedy struck during a break from filming near Saona Island.

According to reports, Floros had been spearfishing outside of the competition when he was hit by a tourist boat.

Authorities and production company AcunMedya say Floros was diving without a surface marker buoy in an area heavily used by tourist boats when the vessel Adrien III accidentally struck him.

The injuries were devastating.

Officials confirmed Floros suffered severe trauma to both legs after reportedly being struck by the boat’s outboard engine propellers. Reports say the accident resulted in a partial amputation of his left leg along with serious injuries to his right ankle.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and provided immediate medical treatment before transporting Floros to Centro Médico Central Romana in the Dominican Republic.

He remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

The horrifying accident has completely shaken production on Survivor Greece, prompting the network SKAI to suspend all broadcasts of the show until further notice.

In a lengthy statement, production company AcunMedya stressed that the accident happened outside of the competition itself and said authorities are now investigating exactly what went wrong.

“From the very first moment, there was an immediate response to provide assistance and safely transport the injured contestant,” the company said.

The statement also asked the public not to spread inaccurate information while officials continue investigating the incident.

SKAI television also released a statement expressing support for Floros and his family, promising to assist with his medical treatment and rehabilitation.

“SKAI expresses its sorrow and full support to him and his family,” the network said.

The channel added that while AcunMedya oversees production of Survivor, it will still contribute “in every possible way” to Floros’ recovery and care.

For now, the future of the season remains uncertain as fans of the popular reality series react to the terrifying accident that abruptly halted production.
