Julian Lennon is opening up about a frightening health battle after revealing he was diagnosed with coronary heart disease and pre-diabetes.
The 63-year-old musician shared the emotional update with fans in an Instagram post alongside a series of peaceful nature photos.
Lennon, the son of late Beatles legend John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia Powell, said doctors discovered the conditions early enough that he has been able to begin reversing some of the damage.
“After being diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease & a Pre-Diabetic, I urge all to get checked out sooner than later,” Lennon wrote.
He warned fans that serious health problems can sometimes remain hidden even when people believe they are living healthy lifestyles.
“You never know what hidden health issues you may have, even after exercising and eating as much ‘good/healthy’ food as possible,” he explained.
Coronary heart disease happens when plaque and cholesterol build up inside arteries, reducing blood flow to the heart.
Pre-diabetes occurs when blood sugar levels are elevated but not yet high enough to officially qualify as diabetes.
Both conditions can often improve through lifestyle changes and medical treatment when caught early.
Thankfully, Lennon said that appears to be the case for him.
“Even with these ailments, I’ve managed to catch them early enough, to be able to reverse some of the damage and will hopefully be able to live a healthy long life!” he shared.
The singer also encouraged fans to prioritize their health screenings before it’s too late.
“Please get checked out, before you’re checked out,” he wrote.
Lennon ended his message by thanking the doctors helping guide him through his recovery journey.
Julian Lennon is best known for songs like “Valotte” and “Too Late for Goodbyes,” while also building a career as a photographer, author, and humanitarian over the years.
He also shares a famous musical connection through his half-brother Sean Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
Fans quickly flooded the comments section with support and well wishes after Lennon shared the personal health update.
