Netflix actress Yuri Nakamura has died at age 44 following a long and private battle with cancer.

Nakamura, who appeared in the Netflix series Romantic Anonymous, died on September 1, 2026, her agency, Alpha Agency, announced.

The Japanese actress had been battling rectal cancer for years.

She was first diagnosed about 13 years ago but decided to keep the illness private while continuing her acting career.

Nakamura eventually went into remission and continued working while undergoing regular medical checkups.

But in January 2025, she learned the cancer had returned.

She underwent surgery, but doctors later discovered the disease had spread.

Despite the devastating diagnosis, Nakamura continued treatment while doing everything she could to keep acting.

Her agency said she spent much of her 30s and 40s fighting the illness with remarkable strength while continuing to smile and pursue the work she loved.

Her condition worsened in August 2026 when she developed a severe intestinal blockage while preparing to return to work.

Doctors then reportedly told her she had very little time left.

Nakamura spent her final days peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones.

Her agency said she had lived a deeply fulfilling life and was grateful for the many people she met throughout her career.

Fans quickly flooded social media with tributes after news of her death was announced.

One fan praised Nakamura for her “indomitable spirit and enduring hope,” while another wrote that 44 was “far too young.”

Nakamura also appeared in the Netflix series Beyond Goodbye and had roles in several films, including Like Father, Like Son, I Wish, Maestro!, After the Storm and Motherhood.

She continued pursuing her acting career until the final months of her life.
