Britney Spears has reignited her bitter family feud with an explosive social media post, accusing her younger sister, ex-husband and father of mistreating her before declaring that she intends to find herself an entirely new family.

The 44-year-old pop superstar unleashed her frustrations on Instagram on Sunday, November 1, sharing a defiant image of Dakota Fanning raising her middle finger in the 2003 movie Uptown Girls.

But it was the accompanying message that quickly grabbed attention.

“I will find a new family!!!” Spears announced, before launching into a series of accusations against her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, and former husband, Kevin Federline.

The Toxic singer claimed that Jamie Lynn, 35, repeatedly prevented her from holding her young niece, Ivey, during extended family visits to Louisiana throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spears then turned her attention to Federline, 48, alleging that he refused to let her use the bathroom at his home when she arrived to pick up their two sons, Sean Preston, 21, and Jayden James, 20.

The accusations were followed by an emotional statement about how Spears believes she was treated by those closest to her.

“They made me feel like a slave,” the singer wrote, accusing family members of keeping secrets from her while she spent years working under the supervision of her father, Jamie Spears.

She ended her message by repeating her declaration that she would find a new family.

The post, which had its comments disabled, marked another public escalation in the singer’s years-long disputes with relatives. However, the specific incidents Spears described have not been independently verified.

A source close to Jamie Lynn has since disputed Britney’s account, claiming that the singer did hold her niece during the family visits and that Ivey has a loving relationship with her aunt.

The renewed family tensions come nearly five years after Spears was freed from the controversial conservatorship that controlled major aspects of her personal and financial affairs for more than 13 years.

Her father, Jamie, served as a central figure in the arrangement, which began in 2008 and was terminated by a Los Angeles judge in November 2021.

Since regaining control of her affairs, Spears has repeatedly accused relatives of exploiting her fame, failing to protect her and benefiting financially while she struggled under the court-ordered restrictions.

Her relationship with Jamie Lynn became particularly contentious in 2022, when the former Zoey 101 actress released her memoir, Things I Should Have Said.

During interviews promoting the book, Jamie Lynn discussed her famous sister’s behavior and their complicated relationship. Britney responded with angry social media posts, accusing her younger sister of profiting from their family problems.

The dispute eventually escalated into a legal warning from Britney’s attorney, who demanded that Jamie Lynn stop making allegedly misleading statements about the singer.

Jamie Lynn has maintained that she supported her sister privately and has denied playing a role in controlling Britney’s conservatorship.

Meanwhile, Spears’ relationship with Federline has also remained strained.

The former couple married in 2004 and divorced in 2007. Federline subsequently became the primary caregiver for their two sons, while Spears paid substantial child support over the years.

Their tensions resurfaced in October 2025 when Federline released his memoir, You Thought You Knew, which included controversial allegations about their marriage, parenting disagreements and Spears’ behavior.

Britney publicly criticized the book, describing the experience of having their private family history exposed as deeply hurtful.

Federline has defended his decision to share his account, maintaining that he wanted to tell his side of the story and address concerns involving their children.

Despite the conflict with her ex-husband, Spears has shown signs of rebuilding her relationship with her adult sons. She recently shared photographs from a family trip to Dollywood in Tennessee, offering fans a glimpse of their time together. Page Six+1

Her latest outburst also comes during a turbulent year marked by legal troubles.

In March, Spears was arrested in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence after authorities said she had been driving erratically.

She initially faced a misdemeanor DUI charge but pleaded guilty on May 4 to the reduced offense of reckless driving involving alcohol and an impairing drug, commonly called a “wet reckless.”

Under the agreement, Spears received 12 months of informal probation, credit for time already served, fines and a mandatory 30-hour DUI education program. She was also ordered to continue substance abuse and mental health treatment. AP News+1

For now, Spears has not explained what prompted her latest accusations or whether her promise to find a new family signals a permanent break from her relatives.

But after years of public disagreements, emotional revelations and bitter accusations, the pop star’s latest message makes one thing clear: Her longstanding family conflicts remain unresolved.
