A California couple has been arrested for a string of assaults tied to a baiting scheme where they would allegedly beat would-be bike thieves with bats.
Corey Curnutt, 25, and 29-year-old Savannah Grillot were detained Wednesday at their residence on the 200 block of East Dove in Visalia, according to a release from local authorities.
Both have been charged with numerous assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy charges.
The Visalia Police Department state in the release that the assaults began in July 2019 and continued through November 2019.
They added that the assault were shared onto YouTube by the couple.
Videos showed the would-be thieves attempting to steal the planted bike but not getting far before the suspects come chasing after them with baseball bats.
According to the police, the victims in each case suffered non-life threatening injuries from the assaults.
So far, only four victims have been identified in the attacks.
Neighbors in the area tell KSEE that they were initially fine with the couple’s actions but grew concerned when various folks became injured.
A Navy spokesperson did confirm Grillot is a Navy Sailor assigned to the Lemoore Navy Base.

This is a tough one. Do I applaud the couple for tempting potential thieves with bikes and then beating them up? Or do I reach the conclusion that assaults with a deadly weapon is a worst crime that stealing a bike?
And all these just to make videos for YouTube to be watch by self-righteous sadists? Is YouTube monetizing those videos?
I guess this is what a sick society looks like
Bottom line : thieves, just desserts. Any videos considered a public service announcement.
