Ami Brown, star of Alaskan Bush People, was recently rushed to the emergency room after struggling with severe breathing problems. Her daughter, Snowbird Brown, shared an emotional update with fans, revealing that Ami’s condition was serious enough to warrant a medical evacuation.

In an Instagram video posted on February 12, Bird, 30, explained that her mother, 61, had been admitted to the hospital late the previous night after experiencing significant respiratory issues. “She went to the emergency room late last night, and after some tests, they actually medevaced her to a bigger hospital,” Bird shared.

Medevac, or medical evacuation, is a critical transfer from one medical facility to another, usually by air or ground ambulance, to provide patients with specialized care. According to Bird, doctors determined Ami was suffering from pneumonia, and they decided to put her under anesthesia for two days to help her body rest and heal.

“She’s OK right now,” Bird reassured fans, “but there’s been a lot of sickness around here, and it really hit Mom hard.” She further explained that Ami’s lung issues are particularly severe, which is why the doctors opted for the anesthesia to minimize her body’s stress.

The Brown family has received an outpouring of support from fans, who flooded the comment section with prayers and messages of hope for Ami’s recovery. One fan wrote, “Her doctors sound top-notch. Prayers for her strength and healing,” while another added, “Prayers for your mom and family.”

This health scare comes after Ami’s difficult battle with cancer. In 2017, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and given just a three percent chance of survival. By early 2018, she had confirmed that her cancer was in remission.

Ami’s hospitalization also follows a similar incident in March 2024, when she was rushed to the hospital for pneumonia. At that time, Snowbird shared that Ami was being treated with antibiotics and was in stable condition.

Bird, too, has faced her own health challenges, having been diagnosed with ovarian tumors in 2022. Fortunately, the tumors were not cancerous, but doctors warned of a high risk of recurrence. By October 2023, Bird was able to share that things looked promising after additional tests.

The Brown family has experienced a series of emotional challenges in recent years, including the death of their beloved patriarch, Billy Brown, in 2021 at the age of 68. The family is still coping with his loss and the changes it brought.

Season 14 of Alaskan Bush People aired in December 2022, but Discovery Channel has yet to confirm whether the series will return for Season 15.
