And Just Like That… is back for season 3 — and it’s already delivering jaw-dropping moments, starting with Rosie O’Donnell playing a virgin nun who has a one-night stand with Miranda.

In the season premiere titled “Outlook Good,” O’Donnell plays Mary, a tourist from a small Canadian town outside Winnipeg, who meets Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) at a lesbian bar in New York City. The two hit it off and end up spending the night together — but the morning-after surprise is where things really take a turn.

Lying in bed, Mary gushes to Miranda, saying, “I’ve never experienced anything like that… it felt electric and so natural.” When Miranda assumes it was Mary’s first time with a woman, Mary corrects her: “This is my first time with anyone. I was a virgin. Yes, I’m a nun.”

The twist has Miranda spiraling. Later, while visiting Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), she blurts out, “I had sex with a nun.” Carrie, of course, doesn’t miss a beat: “So, you deflowered the Virgin Mary?”

Though the night was a one-off for Miranda, Mary doesn’t seem to agree. She starts texting, inviting Miranda to Central Park for a carousel ride and even asking her to meet up at the M&M store in Times Square after seeing Wicked. “Oh my god, this nun is in love with me,” Miranda panics to Carrie.

When the two finally meet up again, Miranda gently lets Mary down, urging her not to make any major life decisions based on one night of self-discovery. Mary assures her, “I would never leave God. We’re married.” She ends the moment by singing a line from Wicked‘s “For Good” — the ultimate farewell.

O’Donnell’s guest appearance is one of several big-name cameos set for the new season. The premiere also featured Broadway’s James Monroe Iglehart, and upcoming episodes will welcome Kristen Schaal, Rosemarie DeWitt, and theater legend Patti LuPone. On the romantic side, new male leads will be played by Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, and Logan Marshall-Green.

O’Donnell, no stranger to stealing scenes, also recently popped up in season 4 of Hacks, playing herself in a cheeky cameo opposite Jean Smart.

And Just Like That… airs Thursdays at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET on Max.Tools
