Former The Wire actor Tray Chaney is reeling after a powerful tornado tore through his Georgia home on Thursday, leaving his teenage son critically injured and their house reduced to rubble.

In an emotional Instagram video filmed from the wreckage in Locust Grove, Chaney described the terrifying ordeal that unfolded around 3 p.m., saying, “This s–t ain’t no movie.”

Chaney, known for his role as Poot on the iconic HBO series, said he was knocked unconscious by the storm and woke up face down in the mud with parts of his house on top of him.

“I woke up in a panic… screaming my son’s name out,” he said, referring to 18-year-old Malachi Chaney. “My son was thrown 300 feet out of his room.”

Neighbors rushed to help Chaney search for Malachi, who was found in the woods behind the destroyed home. The teen is now in intensive care, suffering from multiple broken ribs and a fractured facial bone.

“Malachi is in this hospital fighting,” Chaney wrote in a later post. “Me and my wife have not and will not leave his side.”

Chaney shared that he’s dealing with his own injuries from the storm, including vomiting and a large knot on his head, but said he’s grateful to be alive.

“I lost my house, I lost everything in it. But thank God I’m still living. I survived a tornado. And my son, he survived,” he said.

Since the video was posted, an outpouring of support has flooded in from fans and friends alike, offering prayers and well wishes to the family.

According to WSBTV, the National Weather Service is investigating the tornado’s path, which touched down less than a mile from the route of a separate twister that hit the area back in April.
