Police are on the hunt for three suspects accused of trying to break into the Sherman Oaks rental home of former Los Angeles Lakers star Christian Wood, allegedly using a fake pizza delivery as a cover to check if anyone was home.
According to law enforcement records obtained by TMZ, the incident took place just after noon on November 5. A Domino’s delivery driver arrived at the short-term rental where Wood was staying, but investigators say the order was placed with no connection to him. Authorities believe the delivery was a ruse to gauge activity inside the house.
Wood was home at the time but did not answer the door, as he wasn’t expecting a delivery. Investigators say the suspects interpreted his lack of response as an opening to attempt a break-in.
Shortly afterward, three masked individuals allegedly forced their way in by breaking a sliding glass door at the rear of the property. Wood reportedly acted quickly, retrieving a firearm from a bedroom and firing multiple shots, forcing the intruders to flee before they could steal anything or cause further damage.
No one was injured during the incident, and nothing was reported missing. The suspects remain at large.
Weeks after the attempted break-in, police obtained a search warrant to identify who placed the Domino’s order linked to the case. Restaurant staff told officers that the order was placed for Wood’s address that day, and about 30 minutes later, the same phone number called the store to check whether the delivery had been completed. Attempts to trace the number did not yield any usable information.
Wood, a former lottery pick, has played for several NBA teams and last appeared in the 2023–24 season before being sidelined by injury. The Lakers waived him earlier this year, and he is currently a free agent.

Too bad so many folks have such bad aim. Shoot & stop a break-in so they go to the hospital & then they can tell WHO else was involved. Or shoot & kill & let the coroner sort it all out !
Either way, they probably won’t become a repeat offender !
