Actor and comedian Andy Dick reportedly suffered an apparent overdose in Los Angeles, but he has since told TMZ that he is “okay.”

TMZ shared photos on December 9 showing Dick slumped on the street in Hollywood in broad daylight. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, and Narcan—a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses—was administered. Despite the alarming scene, Dick spoke to the site afterward, saying he was relieved to be alive but declined to provide further details about what happened.

The fire department confirmed they responded to an overdose involving a 59-year-old man, who was not transported to a hospital. Dick is 59. According to reports, bystanders acted quickly to administer Narcan, which can rapidly restore normal breathing in someone experiencing an opioid overdose. The medication can be given as a nasal spray or injected into a muscle, under the skin, or into a vein.

Andy Dick’s struggles with substance abuse and legal issues are well-documented. In 2023, he was arrested in Lake Elsinore for public intoxication and failing to register as a sex offender. That registration stemmed from a 2018 jury conviction after Dick groped an Uber driver in West Hollywood.

Dick has faced decades of arrests, many related to public drunkenness and assault allegations. In 2008, People reported that he was arrested outside a bar in Murrieta, California, on drug and sexual battery charges after allegedly lifting the top of a 17-year-old girl while extremely intoxicated.

Despite his personal and legal struggles, many fans continue to celebrate Dick’s comedic talent. One fan on X wrote, “Andy Dick is one of the most underrated American comedians. He’s devolved into a punchline these days, but his work will forever shine on like a crazy diamond.”

Andy Dick last posted on Instagram in November, with no reference to the recent incident. The actor’s fans are now hoping for his full recovery as he continues to navigate his long history of personal challenges.

  1. Why so many “famous” people do drugs is beyond me. Just because you’ve GOT the money, there’s no GOOD reason to put it up your nose or into your veins !
