Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke has approved a GoFundMe campaign aimed at helping him cover $59,100 in overdue rent as he faces the threat of eviction, according to multiple reports.

The Hollywood Reporter says the Wrestler star gave the green light to a fundraiser titled Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction, which has already pulled in more than $50,000 from roughly 1,300 donors.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Rourke was served with a three-day eviction notice on December 18. Sources close to the 73-year-old actor say he is going through what they describe as a very difficult time.

The GoFundMe page paints a grim picture of the situation.

“Mickey Rourke is currently facing a very difficult and urgent situation: he is at risk of being evicted from his home,” the fundraiser states. “Life doesn’t always move in a straight line, and despite everything Mickey has given through his work and his life, he is now dealing with a challenging financial moment that has put his housing at risk.”

The fundraiser was launched by Liya-Joelle Jones, a friend and member of Rourke’s management team, who told The Hollywood Reporter she has been overwhelmed by the public response.

“It’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help,” Jones said.
