Andrew Windsor is staring down a new wave of scandal, with insiders warning that ex-staffers and associates are lining up to go on the record about his and Sarah Ferguson’s behavior – and one author says there’s now enough dirt to fill “1,000 volumes” of books.
Biographer Andrew Lownie, 65, who wrote Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, says that ever since Andrew was stripped of his military titles and forced out of public royal duties in 2022, his inbox has exploded with people desperate to talk.
“I’m hearing from protection officers, diplomats, people in the Navy. I’m getting two or three people a day,” Lownie claimed, adding that the material has gone so far beyond a simple paperback update that he’s now plotting a full-on sequel, tentatively titled Untitled.
According to Lownie, the whistleblowers include everyone from former royal nannies to foreign ambassadors. During a recent talk at the Bridport festival, he says a woman who had been Andrew’s nanny in the 1960s and an ambassador from Kazakhstan both stood up to share their experiences, insisting they no longer wanted to stay silent. Many, he says, feel that keeping quiet would make them complicit in the ex-duke’s alleged bad behavior.
Insiders say the stories paint the same picture again and again: a man steeped in entitlement who believed normal rules did not apply to him. Some ex-staffers reportedly feel Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, 66, have dodged real accountability for years and that “the moment has arrived for honesty.” One former royal worker said there is growing fear of being remembered as someone who stayed silent while the scandals swirled.
“The royals are quaking all over again about the prospect of Andrew doing yet another takedown of Andrew,” one senior royal source said, suggesting palace officials know this latest wave of testimony could reopen wounds they’ve tried to keep buried. Behind the scenes, the talk is that the number of whistleblowers coming forward is so huge, there could be enough material to fill “1,000 volumes” on the disgraced former Duke of York.
And the fallout may not stop at bad headlines. Lownie insists stepping back from public life won’t save Andrew from what’s coming next. “I think that charges will be brought against him and he will flee to the Middle East or somewhere, probably like King Juan Carlos,” the author predicted.
Reports in October already hinted at that possibility, claiming Andrew had been invited to relocate to the United Arab Emirates, with accommodation allegedly offered at a palace in Abu Dhabi.
Lownie also says earlier attempts to dismiss his work as exaggerated are collapsing under the weight of new testimony. He claims that not only are more people talking, but they’re willing to put their names to it. “They’re senior people, heads of the Foreign Office, people like that,” he said. “Once people see the weight of evidence from reputable sources, I think that will change the story.”
For Andrew and Fergie, that “story” looks less and less like a closed chapter – and more like the opening pages of a brutal new book they can’t control.
