A quiet morning in Malibu took a tragic turn after a well-known TV star was involved in a heartbreaking accident.

Former “Baywatch” actor David Charvet accidentally struck and killed a dog while driving his pickup truck early Thursday morning. The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Cross Creek Road, according to local authorities.

Officials say the dog, along with another, had been off-leash when they suddenly ran into the road.

Charvet reportedly tried to avoid them, swerving as they darted in front of his truck — but one of the dogs was tragically hit and killed.

Police say the incident appears to have been an accident.

Charvet stayed at the scene and contacted authorities right away. A representative for the actor emphasized that he is an animal lover and responsible dog owner, and would never intentionally harm an animal.

The dog’s owner, Vera Errico, was reportedly nearby when the incident occurred.

While Charvet has not publicly commented beyond referring questions to his publicist, the situation has left a community shaken — and serves as a painful reminder of how quickly things can go wrong, especially when pets are not secured near busy roads.

Charvet, best known for his roles on “Baywatch” and “Melrose Place,” has since stepped away from acting and now works in residential construction in Los Angeles.
