A beloved music legend has passed away, and fans around the world are mourning.

Alan Osmond, one of the original voices behind the iconic family group The Osmonds, has died at the age of 76. His family confirmed that he passed away peacefully at home on Monday, surrounded by his wife and eight children after a long and difficult battle with multiple sclerosis.

Alan was the eldest of the Osmond brothers and helped launch the group’s rise to fame in the late 1960s. What started as a barbershop-style quartet with brothers Wayne, Merrill, and Jay quickly turned into a global sensation. With the later addition of younger siblings Donny and Jimmy, The Osmonds became full-blown teen idols in the 1970s, dominating charts and winning over fans everywhere.

In the wake of his passing, his brother Merrill Osmond shared a heartfelt tribute, reflecting on Alan’s incredible strength through years of health struggles. He also praised their brother Jimmy Osmond, who is currently recovering from a stroke.

“To witness their strength, courage, and determination to keep moving forward despite health challenges… was truly inspiring,” Merrill said, adding that nothing compares to “family holding each other up with love, faith, and unwavering support.”

Alan’s family described him as a source of inspiration, especially for those facing the daily challenges of multiple sclerosis. They highlighted his unwavering positivity and his dedication to helping others cope with both the physical and emotional toll of the disease.

Even as he battled MS, Alan never let it define him. In his own words: “I might have MS, but MS doesn’t have me.”

  1. PULEEZE stop referring to every individual in show business who dies as “iconic”! It’s absurd and embarrassing.
