Jake Reiner, 34, has broken his silence following the shocking murders of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer, who were found stabbed to death inside their Los Angeles home last year.
In an emotional post, Jake recalled the moment his world shattered — when his sister, Romy Reiner, told him what had happened.
The news was almost impossible to process.
He described rushing back to his childhood home in a daze, focused only on getting to his sister and understanding what had just unfolded.
“I needed to figure out what the hell just happened,” he wrote.
But the devastation didn’t stop there.
As Jake struggled to come to terms with losing both of his parents, he was hit with another unimaginable blow — learning that his own brother, Nick Reiner, had been charged in their killings.
“We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable,” Jake shared, describing the emotional toll of not only losing his parents, but also the reality that his brother is now at the center of the case.
Prosecutors allege that Nick attacked his parents in their Brentwood home on December 14, fatally stabbing them before fleeing. He has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held without bail as the case moves forward.
For Jake and his sister, the pain hasn’t faded.
“Every day since then has been horrendous,” he wrote. “Every tear, every conversation, every moment is connected to our parents being murdered.”
He explained that while public attention around the case may come and go, the grief for him and his sister is constant.
“It’s every single day,” he said.
Jake also shared deeply personal memories of his parents, describing them as the center of his life and the foundation of who he is.
He spoke about the bond they shared as a family — from watching musicals with his mother to going to baseball games with his father — and how those moments now feel priceless.
Despite growing up with privilege and incredible experiences, Jake said he would give it all up for just one more moment with them.
“I would trade every experience… just to spend one more hour talking to them and to say goodbye.”
