A former Chick-fil-A employee is facing serious charges after police say he pulled off a bizarre scheme involving hundreds of fake orders — and tens of thousands of dollars.
According to authorities in Grapevine, the ex-worker allegedly used a store register to ring up nearly 800 orders of mac and cheese trays, only to immediately refund the money back to his own credit cards. Investigators say the total haul came out to just over $80,000.
Police say the scheme was caught on security footage, showing the suspect repeatedly processing the fake transactions. Even more shocking, officials claim he had already been fired about a month earlier — yet was somehow still able to access the register without supervision.
The restaurant’s owner/operator, Jarvis Boyd, reported the suspicious activity, launching an investigation back in November 2025. What followed was months of searching, as police say the suspect actively tried to avoid capture.
Authorities say he was finally arrested on April 17, 2026, with help from the Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Task Force and Fort Worth police.
He’s now facing multiple charges, including theft of property, money laundering, and evading arrest.
A spokesperson for Chick-fil-A declined to comment on the case, calling it an active investigation and referring questions to law enforcement.
In a separate and unrelated incident, a shooting at a Chick-fil-A in New Jersey earlier this month left one person dead and several others injured. Authorities say that case is still under investigation, with few details released so far.
Both incidents have drawn attention for very different reasons — one for alleged fraud, the other for tragic violence — putting the popular fast-food chain in the spotlight.
