Fans were left stunned after Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes suffered a “mild concussion” when a concertgoer allegedly hurled a phone at his head during a live show.
The shocking moment unfolded Monday night during the band’s concert at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis while the group was performing its hit song “Happy Song.” According to fan-shot videos circulating online, the phone struck Sykes directly in the left side of his head mid-performance, causing the rocker to immediately crouch down on stage in pain.
“Who the f— just threw a phone at my f—in’ head?” the visibly shaken singer shouted to the crowd as he checked himself for blood.
The frightening incident instantly sparked outrage among fans online, many of whom blasted the dangerous trend of concertgoers throwing objects at performers during shows.
A day later, Sykes reassured fans he was recovering but admitted the impact left him with a concussion.
“Alright everyone — just wanted to let you know I’m all good,” the 39-year-old rocker wrote on Instagram Stories. “The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling’s gone down a decent amount already.”
Still, Sykes admitted the injury made the rest of the concert difficult to finish.
“Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing,” he explained. “So I’m sorry on my part for what may have seemed like a half-hearted performance.”
Despite the painful ordeal, the singer said he expected to recover quickly and planned to continue performing.
The scary moment is just the latest in a growing list of dangerous incidents involving fans throwing objects at artists during concerts.
Earlier this month, legendary rocker Eric Clapton was reportedly struck in the chest by an object thrown during a concert in Madrid. Country singer Riley Green was also hit in the ear by a phone during a show in Australia, leaving him bleeding and needing five stitches.
Back in 2023, pop star Bebe Rexha was famously hit in the face by a phone during a New York concert, an incident that required stitches. That same year, country singer Kelsea Ballerini was struck in the eye by a bracelet tossed from the crowd during a performance.
Even Billie Eilish faced a terrifying fan encounter last year when someone allegedly grabbed and yanked her backward while she walked through a crowd during a Miami concert.
For many fans, the latest incident involving Sykes is another reminder that concert chaos can turn dangerous in seconds.
