A tense situation unfolded near the White House early Sunday morning when U.S. Secret Service personnel shot a man following what officials are calling an “armed confrontation.”
The incident happened around 12 a.m. on March 9 at the intersection of 17th Street NW and G Street NW in Washington, D.C.—just a short distance from the White House.
According to Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi, the confrontation began after local police alerted federal agents to a “suicidal individual” who had traveled from Indiana to D.C. earlier that day.
Agents later found the person’s parked vehicle and spotted someone matching the description nearby. When officers approached, the individual allegedly brandished a firearm, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
The suspect was taken to a hospital, but their condition remains unknown. No Secret Service personnel were injured in the incident.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division is now leading the investigation, as is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings in D.C. Authorities have not released further details at this time.
Meanwhile, The New York Times reports that former President Donald Trump was not at the White House when the incident occurred, as he was spending the weekend at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

Suicidal individual. Seems he wanted the police to do the job for him. Feel bad for his family
