Miley Cyrus is opening up about a painful health scare that nearly sidelined her during one of her biggest TV moments. While co-hosting NBC’s “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” with Dolly Parton to ring in 2023, the pop star was secretly dealing with a serious medical emergency.

Speaking on “The Zane Lowe Show,” Miley shared that she suffered a ruptured ovarian cyst during the live broadcast.

“I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with Lorne [Michaels],” she revealed. “I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn’t know exactly what was going on so we did it anyway.”

Despite being in severe pain, the “Flowers” singer powered through the show with cameras rolling. “It was extremely excruciating, and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me,” she said.

Ovarian cysts are typically harmless, but some—like the one Miley experienced—can cause sharp abdominal pain and require immediate medical attention.

Cyrus didn’t just host the show—she co-executive produced the special with her godmother Dolly Parton and “SNL” mastermind Lorne Michaels. But the toll the experience took made her question everything.

“It made me consider walking away,” she admitted. But a dinner with Michaels gave her a new perspective. “Lorne said something that’s stuck with me. He goes, ‘Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves, and then we start to rebuild.’”

She said Michaels reassured her that many artists go through similar crises. “He told me, ‘You have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me they were quitting music.’”

Now 32, Miley is far from quitting. Her upcoming album “Something Beautiful” is set to drop later this month, signaling a major comeback.

But she’s still managing another vocal health challenge—Reinke’s edema, a condition she says has shaped her distinctive voice. “I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord. It’s given me a lot of my tone and texture,” she said. “But it’s like running a marathon with ankle weights.”
