Kate Gosselin’s carefully crafted image just took a jaw-dropping hit. Her ex-husband Jon Gosselin has dropped a bombshell, claiming Kate has secretly been in a relationship with her longtime bodyguard, Steve Neild, for nearly two decades—and that the affair is what destroyed their marriage.
Kate, now 50, recently told fans on TikTok she’s been dating someone for “a little over a year.” But Jon insists that’s a cover story, saying he’s certain the romance began at least 17 years ago, right under his nose. “I definitely think it’s her bodyguard Steve, 100 percent,” Jon said. “I know for a fact they’ve been canoodling for a long, long time. Obviously it’s been longer than a year.”
According to Jon, signs of the relationship were everywhere during their marriage. He claims Steve often slept at their Pennsylvania home, sometimes in the basement while the couple filmed Jon & Kate Plus 8. He remembers one moment when Kate hurt herself on a treadmill. Instead of asking Jon for help, she demanded, “No, call Steve.” Even at their 2008 vow renewal, Jon says Kate insisted on inviting Steve’s family—something he always found “weird.”
Jon accused TLC and Kate of smearing him as a cheater for years while covering up what he believes was the real scandal. “Our divorce didn’t end because I was cheating,” Jon said. “It ended because I knew she was seeing Steve.” He insists he never strayed during the marriage and only dated once the split was official.
The shocking allegations don’t come from Jon alone. Their son Collin, one of the sextuplets, backed his father’s claims, telling The U.S. Sun that Steve frequently stayed overnight in their home and joined Kate on “business trips” that had nothing to do with filming. Collin says he sometimes shared adjoining hotel rooms with his mother while Steve was in the next bed over. “I could hear them through the wall,” he alleged. “That’s disgusting. That is not okay.”
Collin, who has accused Kate of past abuse, even challenged his mother to take a lie detector test about both the alleged affair and the abuse claims. “There is the truth,” he said, “and there is the truth from Kate Gosselin’s point of view.”
Kate has not publicly addressed Jon and Collin’s latest accusations. However, Steve filed for divorce from his wife in 2023, and Kate’s recent TikTok videos feature her casually calling for “Steve”—a subtle but telling confirmation in Jon’s eyes.
