Meghan Markle is reportedly stunned and upset after Prince Harry pushed a plan that could massively disrupt their life in Montecito — sending their children, Archie and Lilibet, to school in Britain. Sources tell RadarOnline.com the proposal has caused major tension inside the Sussex household.
Harry, insiders say, is now “more determined than ever” to give his children a British education at an elite school, despite the family’s carefully built life in California since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
The idea immediately rattled Meghan, 44, who feels blindsided and believes the suggestion threatens the stability they’ve fought to protect for their kids. Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, are already settled in schools near the couple’s Montecito home, and the thought of uprooting them across the Atlantic has sparked what one source called “huge tension.”
According to insiders, Harry isn’t backing down. They say he believes a British education would offer his children opportunities they wouldn’t get in America — and help them build the kind of lifelong friendships he formed at Eton.
“Harry says this isn’t about abandoning their life in the U.S.,” a source said. “He just wants Archie and Lili to have the best education possible and to understand their heritage.”
For Meghan, the timing and the pitch came as a shock. A source claimed she was “caught off guard” and couldn’t believe Harry even floated the idea without discussing it fully with her first. Another insider said she felt “utterly blindsided” that her husband might have talked about UK schooling during his solo visit to Britain in September.
During that trip, Harry reportedly told a friend he worried his kids were missing out on experiences shared by their royal cousins — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Singer Joss Stone, who recently moved her family from Nashville back to the UK, even revealed that Harry praised British schools as “wonderful” when they spoke at the WellChild Awards. She said her own decision to return was driven by wanting her kids surrounded by friends, extended family, and a sense of belonging — sentiments Harry has echoed.
The prince has also taken steps to repair ties with his family, including meeting King Charles for tea earlier this year — their first in-person contact in 19 months. Insiders suggest this renewed connection may be influencing Harry’s feelings about raising his children closer to his roots.
But the proposal has left Meghan deeply concerned. One source explained, “The thought of sending their kids 6,000 miles away is completely unacceptable to her. She can’t imagine being that far from her little ones. She’s distressed Harry would even raise the idea.”
While Harry reportedly sees the UK as a chance for their children to embrace both sides of their heritage, Meghan argues there are world-class schools in the U.S. — and notes that many affluent families opt for homeschooling or private, flexible education options.
“Meghan wants to be supportive, but she fears he’s slipping back into nostalgic thinking,” a source said. “There’s a lot of tension as they try to decide what’s truly best for Archie and Lilibet.”
At the moment, there’s no sign the couple is close to a resolution — and insiders say this may be one of the most significant disagreements they’ve faced since moving to California.

It would be very beneficial to the children to learn their TRUE heritage, not the crap dished out by the public school dystopia that American kids are taught. Far too many left-leaning liberals have infested the school system here & hide real, accurate history. And NO Columbus wasn’t a saint, but a lot of good done by early explorers has been shrouded in lies & hate recently.
FWIW, The Vikings seem to have “discovered” America, but there were folks living here long before the Vikings showed up !
The children need a well-rounded education, which unfortunately, the American system is no longer capable of providing. The more varied input, the better.
Hmmm. The beginning of the end?
