Christina Aguilera is catching heat from her own fans after a chaotic concert in Mexico City that left many feeling disappointed.
The pop star hit the stage at Palacio de los Deportes this week—but things quickly went sideways when she made a cringe-worthy mistake mid-show.
“I love you so much, New Mexico!” she told the crowd—accidentally confusing Mexico City with the U.S. state.
The slip-up didn’t go unnoticed.
Fans immediately took to social media, calling out the moment and piling on more complaints about the night, which many described as underwhelming from start to finish.
One of the biggest issues? The length of the show.
Several attendees claimed the concert was advertised as a two-hour performance, but Aguilera reportedly only performed for about 55 minutes. Others said she took the stage more than an hour late, making the short set even more frustrating.
“The show didn’t even last an hour,” one fan wrote online. “She came out late, rushed through songs, and the production felt cheap.”
Speaking of production, that became another major talking point.
Concertgoers described the stage setup as lackluster, with some saying it looked like equipment was covered in plastic tarps—possibly due to rain—but still not what they expected from a major headliner.
“I was there, worst show ever,” one disappointed fan posted. “It felt like a low-budget performance.”
Others poked fun at the entire situation, with one person joking, “She showed up late, called it New Mexico, and only performed 55 minutes—but I still can’t hate her.”
Not everyone was upset, though.
Some fans defended Aguilera, pointing out that she had been traveling and performing nonstop in recent weeks and may have simply been exhausted.
“She’s been on the road constantly,” one supporter wrote. “One mistake doesn’t define the whole show.”
Others also noted that her recent performances have been around an hour long, suggesting the Mexico City show may have been misrepresented locally.
Still, the backlash has been loud, with Aguilera’s social media flooded with comments—many from frustrated fans in Mexico.
Despite the controversy, the singer shows no signs of slowing down. She recently performed in Texas, is scheduled to hit Costa Rica next, and has more international dates lined up.
She’s also teasing new music and even a documentary about her career comeback.
