Fans of reality TV are mourning the sudden and tragic loss of a familiar face from one of A&E’s biggest shows.

Darrell Sheets, best known for his long run on Storage Wars, has died at the age of 67. Authorities say he was found early this morning at his home in Lake Havasu City.

According to local police, officers responded to a call around 2 a.m. and discovered Sheets inside the home, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the death appears to be the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The department’s Criminal Investigations Unit has taken over the case, and the investigation is still ongoing. His body has been transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further review.

Sheets became a fan favorite during his time on Storage Wars, appearing in more than 160 episodes between 2010 and 2023. Known for his bold personality and high-stakes bidding style, he built a reputation as someone always chasing the next big score in abandoned storage unit auctions.

The show followed buyers competing to purchase unopened storage lockers, hoping to uncover valuable hidden items. Sheets often stood out for his larger-than-life approach, frequently talking about massive finds and big wins.

In 2019, he suffered a serious heart attack that led him to step back from the business. In recent years, he made fewer appearances on the show after relocating to Arizona, where he focused on running an antiques store.

On the show’s official site, Sheets was described as someone who had been hooked on the thrill of storage auctions for decades, always chasing that one life-changing discovery.

While details about surviving family members have not yet been released, fans are remembering him as one of the most recognizable personalities from the series.
