A quiet night in one of Los Angeles’ most exclusive neighborhoods turned into a nightmare after a violent home invasion left a 70-year-old woman injured and robbed.

Police say the terrifying incident happened around 8 p.m. on Lookout Mountain Avenue in the Laurel Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department rushed to the scene after reports of a break-in — but by the time they arrived, the suspects were already gone.

Inside the home, they found the victim had been strangled and assaulted during the attack. She was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.

According to investigators, the intruders wore hoodies and masks as they forced their way inside before making off with a large amount of cash and jewelry. They reportedly fled in a white Honda Accord.

The scene quickly turned into a major police response, with nearly a dozen squad cars surrounding the home and a helicopter scanning the area from above. Yellow tape blocked off the quiet street as officers searched for clues.

Neighbors say the location may have made the home an easy target.

“It’s dark, it’s at the top of a dead-end street… not many people around,” one neighbor said. “It’s the perfect place for something like this.”

The case is now being handled by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division as the search for the suspects continues.

The upscale neighborhood is known for its celebrity residents, including Keanu Reeves, Sabrina Carpenter, and Dylan Sprouse — adding even more attention to the already chilling crime.
