Gladys Knight was forced to cancel her Florida show over the weekend after coming down with the flu.

According to her rep, she started feeling unwell just before the show and received treatment in Florida. She was released overnight and is now heading back home to North Carolina to rest.

Fans were given the unfortunate news at the last minute when Florida Theatre President Numa Saisselin announced that Gladys and a staff member had fallen ill backstage. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue attended to them at the venue. Despite the sudden illness, Saisselin noted that Knight was “smiling and in good spirits” when she left.

As of now, theatre officials haven’t confirmed if the show will be rescheduled but expect to have an update early next week. They assured ticket holders that refunds will be available if a new date doesn’t work, as long as tickets were purchased through the Florida Theatre or its official website.

Gladys’ team has yet to provide further updates on her condition. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
